From Sloping Yard to Elevated Alfresco Entertaining

What was once a difficult, underused backyard has been transformed into a spacious outdoor entertaining area designed for everyday family living.

This Narraweena project began with a sloping yard that offered plenty of potential, but very little usable space. The client had a clear vision: to turn the backyard into a practical, comfortable and private area where family and friends could gather, dine and relax outdoors.

An elevated deck was designed and built by others to connect the home with the new alfresco zone, helping make the most of the challenging terrain. Pergola Land then created the freestanding insulated alfresco structure, giving the space definition, shade and year-round usability.

The crisp white frame and clean roofline give the alfresco a fresh, modern finish, while the insulated roof helps create a cooler, more comfortable space underneath. Set against the natural rock face and established greenery, the structure feels bright and open without overwhelming the backyard.

Privacy from neighbouring properties was also an important part of the design. The freestanding alfresco helps position the outdoor dining area in a more protected and purposeful way, making the once-unused section of yard feel like a natural extension of the home.

With generous room for a large dining table, ceiling fan, lighting and easy access from the house, this elevated alfresco is now ready for long lunches, weekend barbecues and relaxed outdoor entertaining.
